2008 will be the 12th consecutive year Interludes has appeared in the the Good Hotel Guide or the (now defunct) Which? Hotel Guide - or both. We have often been the sole entry for Scarborough. Our sincere thanks to guests who have recommended us to these and other publications.

Sir Alan Ayckbourn's successor (in 2009) as Artistic Director will be Chris Monks whose innovative adaptations of 'The Marriage of Figaro' , 'Carmen' and 'The Mikado' have been brought to the SJT by its sister theatre-in-the-round company the New Vic.

'Jack Lear', world Premiere, written by Ben Benison, directed by Barrie Rutter, 16th October to 8th November.

'Awaking Beauty', world Premiere of a new musical, written & directed by Alan Ayckbourn, music by Denis King, 11th December to 17th January.

'Heidi', Northern Broadsides theatre company in a new version by Andrew Pollard, directed by Adam Sunderland. 25th November to 20th December

'Accidental Death of an Anarchist' by Dario Fo, adapted by Deborah McAndrew, directed by Conrad Nelson, Northern Broadsides theatre company, Monday to Saturday 24th to 29th November

dot 'The Sands' new £130m North Bay development

The Sands



The Corner Complex has been demolished and work on 100 new apartments has begun. The waterpark Atlantis will then be re-developed to include a 150 bedroom hotel and an indoor water park which should be completed early 2009.

The Rotunda Museum has reopened as The William Smith Museum of Geology. It will celebrate the work of Smith, who is known as the Father of Geology.
