Interludes Hotel Scarborough

About the hotel . . .

'Interludes' is a grade 2 listed Georgian building. It is well placed in the heart of the Old Town conservation area, lying twixt Castle and Harbour. Because of our enviable setting many of the attractions of Scarborough are just a pleasant stroll away.

We have just five bedrooms (double, four-poster or twin). Each is equipped for the comfort of two guests and is strictly non-smoking for your comfort and safety. Quality furnishings, colour TV, hairdryer, radio, central heating and courtesy tray are standard. Four rooms have sea views over the South Bay and have an en-suite wc with shower or bath. The remaining room has a shower and WC immediately adjacent.

The elegant lounge on the first floor, with its twin chesterfields is the perfect place to relax.
The dining room is an attractive non-smoking room featuring two large polished mahogany tables and in common with all other rooms, has a display of theatre prints, photographs and other memorabilia.
Evening meals are prepared to order and must be booked in advance. We are pleased to prepare vegetarian and many other special diets. A selection of fine wines is available and 'Interludes' has a full residential licence.

Information that you will not normally see in hotel advertising - but there is no such thing as a universally perfect hotel! Different guests have different needs and requirements, so to avoid disappointing you when you arrive, here are a few things which may put you off!!

Parking

What can we say. This is an historic Conservation Area - and Scarborough now has a residents' parking scheme. In the Old Town there is normally sufficient parking for our guests but at peak times (Bank Holidays and the main Summer Holiday period) it may be more difficult. When you arrive in Scarborough come to Interludes first and - according to the time of day and how many nights you are staying - we will give you either a time clock or a scratch card. These will give you free parking in the Old Town during your stay with us.

No Smoking

On the coast the air is clean and fresh and that is how we like our home - plus - most hotel fires are started by guests smoking in bed. Not here please.

Stairs

We have them everywhere. Nice Georgian stairs with fairly shallow wide treads, half landings and lots of posters to look at as you climb. There are no ground floor bedrooms.

Dogs &/or Children

The original owner of the hotel (Dorcas Cat) put her paws down and banned them - a tradition Penny cat and Sasha cat are determined to continue. This keeps 'Interludes' quiet and peaceful. See 'Seagulls' below.

Seagulls

They live in resort towns. They squawk. Then they squawk some more.

Hills

We are on a hillside. This gives us our panoramic views across the south bay. It is a steep hill from two out of three directions. 'Cardiac Hill' one guest christened it. Quite!

We hope that you still want to visit us because a happy guest returns - many times - and recommends us to friends. That is how we get most of our business, not through paid advertising but through word of mouth. We like that!
